Thumbnail creation failed

When I try attach an image to a post, I get the following error:

Thumbnail creation failed: /usr/bin/convert: Unrecognized option (-thumbnail).

Could someone please point me in the right direction to getting this solved?

Also when I click the attachment, it opens but not using lightbox. I'm not sure if this is a related problem or simply a setting I am missing.

Seems like ImageMagick is not configured properly on the server; you may need to check with your hosting provider or server admin to see if they can update it for you. Alternatively, you can try changing your settings to use GD instead in Admin CP > vBulletin Options > Image SEttings.

Are there any advantages to using ImageMagick instead of GD?

ImageMagick runs as a standalone process (if I remember correctly, it is triggered via exec()), where as GD is usually running as part of PHP. GD will be limited to PHP's memory limit, so you may encounter errors when trying to manipulate grossly oversized images (IE: 2000x2000 or larger), which ImageMagick might get you a little bit further (it is confined to other limits on your server, too). Aside from that, there's no real disadvantages that I can think of off the back of my hand.

GD has less thumbnailing options, and doesn't have the same level of support for Animated GIF images, but otherwise it does a fine job else where.
