I am at my wits end

Over the last few days I have been learning the admin of my forum, as I have had others do this for me until now.
I have three days going through the admin and making a few changes but carefully reading first.
Somehow I have stopped guests from joining and seeing the register button.
What I am trying to achieve is for guest to have to log on to view the forum except I was going to allow two boards that gusts could view.
Any tips on what I have rest incorrectly for guests to register would be much appreciated.

I think the setting problems are in this section in user groups.

You need to allow guests to view your forums:

Admin CP -> Usergroups -> Usergroup Manager -> Edit Usergroup -> Can View Forum -> Yes

Then you need to set the appropriate forum /usergroup permissions to allow Unregistered to see only the forums you want them to:

Admin CP -> Forums & Moderators -> Forum Permissions -> Edit (Unregistered) -> Can View Forum
