    Turn off 'thread subscription' emails?

    Hello All,

I have run into a major problem on my board. I am on a shared hosting server and my host has a limit on how many emails can be sent per hour. We are over that limit thus no emails are being sent to my members.

I cannot afford to build and host a personal SMTP server at this time. Is it possible to turn off specifically 'thread subscription' emails and still keep activation & password reset emails on?

    Thank you!

If they also include outgoing smtp, you may want to consider looking for a better host.
If they don't include smtp, consider using gmail, yahoo, or hotmail as a smtp host.

You cannot "disable" it, but you can change it so its no the default.

Thank you for the suggestion Zachery it worked! I switched the email to SMTP hosted by Gmail and all is working great now. I would imagine this switch would also lessen the load on our main board server which is always good.

After you gave me the idea I knew what to search for and I came across this archived thread which was also a help in the configuration.

      Thank you!

Some hosts also include the limitation onto smtp, but as long as yours is not you should be good to go
