Exporting from phpadmin for backups

Can anybody tell me If I have selected the correct settings to export my board database to my hard drive. Don't want to not be able to import it into vbulletin should a situation require I do so.

That is fine as far as it goes. However the only consistently reliable method of backing up and restoring a database is with shell access via telnet or ssh. This is because backing up with a PHP script like that in the Admin CP or phpMyAdmin can result in PHP timeout errors and an incomplete backup file.

Right. So if I don't get a time out it should be OK?
I would know if it timed out?

Not necessarily. It could end with an incomplete backup and no errors.
