Vbulletin no longer connects to mysql

Yesterday I tried adding a new domain to my VPS (not related to vbulletin) when I couldn't do this I asked support from my provider to do it. Turns out for some reason they couldn't do it either. The VPS wouldn't accept it for whatever reason.

However due to something that happened during that time all my sites that use MySQL including vbulletin no longer can connect. MySQL is still active and it's still accessible with phpmyadmin and such but vbulletin just can't connect. Over the course of 12 hours I have gotten error e-mails from vbulletin (approx 800 now) all with different url's and unfortunately no way to turn them off because I can't connect to vbulletin

Anyways here's an example message from vbulletin

    Database error in vBulletin :

mysql_connect() [<a href='function.mysql-connect'>function.mysql-connect</a>]: Client does not support authentication protocol requested by server; consider upgrading MySQL client
    /pathtovbulletin/includes/class_core.php on line 311

Now up to yesterday night everything was fine then this error started. Does anyone know why or how I can fix it?

    Thank you,

You or your host will need to recompile PHP with full MySQL support.

Change CKEditor Colors to Match Style (for 4.1.4 and above)
