  • 404 error when trying to complete registration

I recently helped someone upgrade to vB 3.7.0. but just discovered a registration issue I need some help with. Other than a few disabled plugins (Nospam, phpadsnew integration and Right Column) and two modified templates (header and footer) this is a stock install.

The problem is when a confirmation email is sent, the link to click for confirmation leads to a 404 error. Using the backup confirmation option, navigating to sitename.com/register.php?a=ver also results in a 404 error.

I'm not sure where to look to begin diagnosing this problem. For reference, people could register and successfully complete the email confirmation process prior to the upgrade (from version 3.6.8).

Anyone have any ideas to help? Thanks in advance.

This may be due to mod_security. Please see this thread for the fix:

Thanks for the quick reply. I tried the fix, but the error is still there. I should note that this is not a forbidden code, but a file not found code. In case it's relevant, here's the link that appears in the email:

You need to set the correct forum URL here:

Admin CP -> vBulletin Options -> Site Name / URL / Contact Details -> Forum URL -> http://www.thehardscapeforum.com/forum

        Note: No trailing backslash.
