This seems fairly straightforward, but I've had no luck in the forums so far.
I'd like to make certain profile fields available only to some usergroups, but not others. I tried putting a quick <if> statement in the memberinfo templates, but that does not take care of other places where the profile fields appear (User CP, etc.), and editing those fields is another problem.
So, is there a cleaner/more elegant way to achieve this globally throughout the forums, so that I don't have to modify code everywhere the fields appear?

Reason: clarification.
Sorry, there is no function to do this. This requires modifying the code. We cannot officially support code modifications or forums running modified code, however you can try searching or asking for help with this over at www.vbulletin.org.
