vB uses the server for it's email. If there are problems, then the issue is either with the server itself or on the receiving end.

Email Verification
Since we have upgraded to 3.7 new members are not getting the email verification. I am having to go in and change them to a member. I did a test user and I did not get an email verification but I was able to go straight into my site and start posting. I have the email verification turned on but I don't know what to do now.
We are also not getting emails telling us when we have pm's.
Any suggestions?
