  • Moving server and upgrade from 3.6.8

    Hi,

I am about to move to a new server in two weeks although the new box is already live and configured.

Old server has outdated versions of php and MySQL etc and new server has PHP 5 and MYSQL 5.

I am currently running vBulletin 3.6.8

Is it possible to just do a clean install on the new box of 3.7 and then simply take a MySQL backup of the database on the 3.6.8 and import it into the new site - or am I asking for trouble??

No. You need to move the 3.6.8 db to the new server then upgrade normally.

      Thanks Steve,

The other concern I have is over my styles... I am using a style called trigo I bought from vBstyles.com - however I have put messages on their forum asking if the style will work fine with 3.7 (as have a load of other members) but they are not answering the posts.

Do you think it should work or are we likely to have problems?

I am not familiar with that style. It depends on which templates were changed. My guess is that you will have to revert any custom templates then redo those changes manually.
