i dont use frontpage either but 1and1 has you disable extensions to access your ftp site. So im wondering if vb needs me to close off my ftp site access to work. or maybe i can msn or pm steve my info and he can look at it for me?

I think I see the problem. You need to upload the vB files to your main web directory instead of the ftp directory. This is usually something like:

      public_html
      httpdocs

If you do not know for sure, then you will need to contact your host for the correct location.

jose or steve. Can you check now and see why it isnt working still. I spoke with the support team like steve told me to do, they were very helpful and i did what they told me to do. And still, install/install.php doesnt work.

            Files/Folder Permission
            750 - public_html
            755 -- forum
            755 --- admincp
            755 --- archive
            755 --- clientscript
            755 --- cpstyles
            755 --- customavatars
            755 --- customprofilepics
            755 --- images
            755 --- includes
            755 --- install
            755 --- modcp
            755 --- signaturepics
            0644 --- ajax.php
            0644 --- announcement.php
            0644 --- attachment.php
            0644 --- calendar.php
            and so on...

Your folders should be 755 and file 0644... I can not tell, but I can not see any files in other folders and the only one that have files within folders are admincp and archive. The others are completely empty or folder permission settings are set wrong.

From click on the folder though file manager on host side, then under 'Directory operations' > Change Permissions

or this easies method until you figure out your Host Control Panel.

I wonder if you are on a Windows server, as Windows servers don't support CHMOD. If you were on a linux, Unix servers, then I would of ask you to go though SSH command to CHMOD those folders and files. Do you know what hosting package you have?
