  • Do i really need apc?

I have a dedicated cpanel server, p4d 3ghz, 2gb ram, 250gb sata2 hdd, and the following stats for vbul: Threads: 39,063, Posts: 510,478, Members: 10,639 with about 15-25 concurrent users.

i can do anything i need to on the server, but am i really likly to see much of a performance increase with APC installed, currently it takes about 2 seconds to load a page on my 20meg connection.

APC is recommended it is not required. Currently the only thing that would be stored in APC's cache is the Datastore.

The recommendations were increased in anticipation of vBulletin 4.0 which will take advantage of cache's like APC to a much higher degree.
