  • Has VB had a professional security audit?

    Hey Everyone,

I could have sworn that I read this somewhere. That vbulletin has been security audited. Of course I know the devs are very experienced and are very security conscious. I just wanted to bring this to people's attention and for my own curiosity too.

    According to PHPBB it hasn't...

"Paid Security Code Audit" - No (Vbulletin)

And more to the point where do they get this info? Are they just talking rubbish?
    Best Regards,

I would not read to much into it, as they seem not to know vBulletin as a product and reporting inaccurate information about another product, just shows how upto date that list is.

I believe it has been mentioned before that vBulletin does do professional security audits, but I can't recall the exact post.

Parts of that list isn't even up to date (as Jose mentioned). Some of that data isn't even complete.
Congratulations on the death of vBulletin, Internet Brands.

That bit of marketing spin could also be interpreted as "The phpBB developers don't have the security expertise needed so they need to rely upon others for it." It's all just a matter of how somebody wants to interpret it.

Thanks for all the replies. Especially Floris...must have read my mind...that was exactly where I read it.

I know PHPBB will be using it for their marketing. It doesn't really bother me if VB did or didn't. I trust Vbulletin. However I don't like companies reporting false information.

If you can call PHPBB a company. I thought it was a bunch of lazy programmers.
