  • Duplicate usernames?

I banned a user then someone else registered with that same name.....

Is that a bug?? How could that happen??

No, it's not a big and no that is not possible with the default vB code. Either they actually registered with a hidden ASCII character, this original member was actually deleted and not banned, or this is due to an add-on.

There a way to disable these ascii usernames?

In the Registration options, use the username regex rules to set a rule so they can only use a-z, there is an example in the help text. You can access it via the (?) icon to the right hand side of the setting.

Sorry, did not notice this in 3.6 area, you might now have this option available to you/
