    editing post 'save' problem

    I have a forum running at www.TurkishLiving.com and have a problem which got introduced when I modified few templates while installing a hack, as this was a while back and I haven't had time to sort this out, unfortunately I have forgotten what exactly I changed.

    The problem is this;

    When you edit a post and make some changes and hit the Save button, the message next to the button changes to 'Posting Message - Please Wait' and just sits there. (this happens for large changes to the original content only, small changes works fine)

    If you select 'Go Advance' and save it works.

    Can someone help by pointing me in the right direction to try to figure out where about this bit code is being executed so I can see what I might have messed up?

    I am not very familiar with the inner workings of VB so difficult for me to try to locate the bug I have introduced.

    Thanks

    Try this. Create a new style and choose no parent style. This will force it to use the default templates. Then change to this style and view your forums with it. Do you have the same problem?

    If you do, empty your browser cache, close all browser windows and try again.

    If you do not have this problem with the original templates, then this means the problem is with one or more of your custom templates. You need to revert your templates, then redo your changes.

      Hi, I have done what you suggested, and the same thing happens in the new test style.

        Then it's likely a problem with another modification.

        To troubleshoot this, first reupload all the original vB non-image files (except install.php). Make sure you upload these in ASCII format and overwrite the ones on the server. Also be sure to upload the admincp files to whichever directory you have set in your config.php file. Then run 'Suspect File Versions' in Diagnostics to make sure you have all the original files for your version and that none show 'File does not contain expected contents':

        Admin CP -> Maintenance -> Diagnostics -> Suspect File Versions

        [Note: In some cases you may also need to remove any of the listed .xml files in the includes/xml directory.]

        Next, disable all plugins.

        Note: To temporarily disable the plugin system, edit config.php and add this line right under <?php

        define('DISABLE_HOOKS', true);
