  • Is There A Way To Delete All Posts By A User?

    Hi,

I'm having some trouble with spammers constantly posting messages on my forums, whenever I want to get rid of it I have to delete each individual message that they have posted and then ban them.

Is there a way of banning them and deleting all of their posts at the same time?

    Thanks for any help.

    Bob,

You should go to the Admin Control Panel and then to Threads and Posts. From there you can select Prune. Scroll down and find Prune by Username insert your user here and select any or all Forums you want to delete this users posts from. If I recall it will return a list and ask for confirmation before it actually deletes the posts.

You can then go to the users profile, and select Banned as the User Group. This should get rid of the offending poster for a while.

Thanks for the help John, have sorted it now

However I am now thinking that perhaps I should just try and stop the spam in the first place. I'm a newbie with vbulletin (you can probably tell), so does anyone have any recommendations for anti-spam measures?

I get a lot of people posting links to other sites. Is there a way to prevent people posting links?

      Thanks again

How to Reduce Spam and Registration Bots

Stopping people from posting links requires modifying the code. We cannot officially support code modifications or forums running modified code, however you can try searching or asking for help with this over at www.vbulletin.org.

Thanks a lot kerry-anne, i'll have a look at that.

Is it common for people to modify their forum so that links can't be posted? Or do most people prefer to try and prevent the spammers registering in the first place?

          Thanks again for the help
