Additional information box too small

At a member profile in the additional information box the biography along with the custom information boxes widths are set at about 100 px. How can I make them larger?

Example:

Biography:
Hello this is my
name and I have
had that name
since I was born.

How I would like it to show

Hello this is my name and I have had that name since I was born.

To change their size from a text input to a textarea, you would need to delete the field and create it again.

When I create a field, there is no option to create a text imput rather than a textarea. Maybe I am misunderstanding you.
