  • transferring servers, transferring SQL without telnet/ssh

Hi, I have a really *bleeeeeep* server host who keeps crashing. I'm transferring servers by tomorrow... right now, I'm reading the manual on how to transfer servers, and I'm copying all the physical FTP files in their entirety, however I do not have Telnet/SSH access. Is there another way I can get the SQL files?

i.e. backing them up through cPanel's backup system?

    Thanks...

Instructions for moving servers are in the online manual here:

    http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/moving_servers

If you do not have telnet or SSH access, some people have reported success with these scripts:

    MySQLDumper:
    http://www.mysqldumper.de/en/index.php

    MySQLHotxcopy:

    Bigdump (restore only):

      Thanks, Steve.

I just realized.... wouldn't it be easier to backup using the vBulletin backup feature in Maintenance?

      http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/m...myadmin_backup

Or will this not work switching across servers?

No. It has the same potential timeout problems as with any PHP based backup option.

            Disregard...

I forgot to include the old database prefixes so all the database names were wrong :P Oopsies! :P
