Upgrade to 3.6.10 Reverting, what's a revert?

I know there has been a gut of this same topic comming up but I've looked at many of them, and there is no solid instructions in them.

Like many, I have upgraded and got the error about needing 5 things to be reverted.

I don't know what that means.

And what exactly do I do to make this all go away without affecting my customized template?

Revert all Templates – this will automatically remove all templates that have been customized in this style. The templates in this style will become equivalent to the templates of its parent style.

So, that means make the template default.

Ok, but can I just copy the coding that has the problem, revert that, then paste it back?

Why not just download your custom style, then upload it custom style using a different name. You then can view each template [View History] and revert any template(s) or add code from default into duplicate style and or revert and add custom coding.
