    At no time have random banner instructions for anywhere other than the header been posted on this site. This is something that needs a modification and therefore is to be discussed at vBulletin.org not here.

    And I don't want to be argumentative, but both the header and thread customization instructions were posted by a vbulletin team member in the vbulletin.com quick tips and customizations forums.

    The instructions are for the header only. For this to work in all templates will require modifications to the code or additional coding. You will need to ask at vBulletin.org for help with this.

    I don't understand, both of those things were from this forum.

    We can't offer official support for code modifications or for forums running modified code. But we do have a hacking site and forums, however, with people that may be willing to help you with this.

    Please visit http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/ and ask for help there in the appropriate forum.

    started a topic Banner Problem

    Banner Problem

    I had a rotating banner at the top of the page that I made using these instructions:

    http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=170826

    I wanted to make it a rotating banner that appeared between posts in threads using these instructions:

    http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=123281

    I can make a static banner using the following lines in the postbit template:

    <tr>
    <td class="alt1" align="center">
    <a href="http://www.phantasmusa.com/"><img src="/banners/nam.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a>
    </td>
    </tr>

    But nothing appears if I try to reference the plugin that I made (which works fine for making a rotating banner in the header) like this:

    <tr>
    <td class="alt1" align="center">$random_banner[$random_number]</td>
    </tr>

    What am I doing wrong?
