When changing domains?

I'm simply changing domains and not server. If I make the changes here: Admin Control Panel > vBulletin Options > vBulletin Options > Site URL Details for the forum will the old URLs show up as a 301 redirect to the new URLs?

You can use htaccess to write a little code to do this for you.

Initially I was going to move everything over to the new domain and then use htaccess to redirect, but I was just contemplating using this method instead. I guess the best and safest way is to use htaccess. Thanks.
