Domain + Username, that forward to site?

Okay I noticed on this site that someone had http://newvb.com/mrnase in their signature and this goes directly to their profile here on vb.com now I would like to know how to do exactly this with another shorter domain I have with my site...

How do I do this?

Get a hosting account, point a domain to it. In the account add a .htaccess file and write a mod_rewrite rule (for Apache web servers).

catch everything after the *
parse it for security reasons through a filter
header redirect to newurl/*parsed_data*
