Can PM Functionality of vBulletin be reused in broader site

We are developing a site based on eZ Publish and are using vBulletin to provide forum support. We'd like to use the private messaging capability built into vBulletin to allow PMs site-wide. Is this possible, or is it limited solely to PMs within vBulletin? Thanks in advance for any help.

Yes, using the API from vBulletin, data managers from vB and by including the right files you can use functionality from vB in custom pages.
