  • "Search IP Addresses" brings down server

    With over 80,000 members, the VBulletin "Search IP Addresses" function is no longer functional for me. When a mod does this type of search, the entire table is locked for over 60 seconds or more (during which time nobody can access the site), and when the search is completed, the impending flood of requests drives server loads over 80, resulting in 'server busy' errors for another couple minutes.

    Is there any way to fix this? I'm not too familiar with mysql but would an index on the table alleviate this? Thanks for any ideas - this functionality is a must for finding user aliases and spam bots.

    You might want to firstly optimize PHP and mysql.. you can requestion that in the server config forum

      Try this:

      ALTER TABLE `post` ADD INDEX `ipaddress`(`ipaddress`);
      Be warned though that it will take a long time...
