What size set for the avatars do u have.Do u think 250x250 and 150kb is too much ?

Use 100 x 100 not larger as it will affect the bandwidth usage

Thats not exactly true.

You could have a 1000 x 1000 white gif/jpg and have it be 0.1KB or you could have a 100x100 2mb animated gif.

If you think you want your avatars to be that large then it should be fine.
