Attachments not showing up after directory move

We recently upgraded our forum from a 3.5 version to 3.6.8.

Subsequently we also moved the forums from a /home/folder/public_html installation to a /home/newfolder/public_html/forums/ type installation.

Our attachments were (are) in a folder, and not stored in the DB... they were in-

/folder/attachments folder and all moved to the /newfolder/attachments folder. The attachment manager in the admin CP was changed as well to reflect this change. Now any attachment in the system from before the move does not display at all, but new attachments are working fine.

    Any thoughts?

Doublecheck the permissions on the files and folders to make sure that the new folder/user has access.

the permissions on all of the folders are set to 0777.

like I said... new attachments work fine - it's just the moved ones. I tried to use the update counter function to rebuild the attachment thumbnails, and it says the files can not be found.

Did you check to see if those attachment were there and did you check the file and directory permissions?

Yes the files exist. I'm thinking of re-copying the entire attachment directory to the new location again.

Did you check the permissions on the files as who owns them? If its root or the old user, its more than likely you may not be able to access them.

I don't think we changed any ownership privileges between the two. Our move was from the same server we just moved directories.

If the files are there, then this is a permissions issue.

Each individual folder within the main attachments folder needs to be set to 0777 right?

Yes. The easiest way to do this is to telnet or ssh into the server, go to the directory right about the main attachment directory and run this:

                    chmod -R 777 attachments

This will set it so all future subdirectories are also 777.

im having a similier problem on 3.6.8 ... i think

my attachments are stored in the database. when i upload a file this appears ...

thats it ... cant right click and view pic, refresh or anything. the file does exist because i can find it in the admin cp. also ... if a user quotes the post, a link shows up in place of the attachment. when you click on the link, the login page apears. after loggin in, a new page opens up with the image on it.

going back to the original post or refreshing after that, the pic shows up in the post.

                      any help would be apreeciated.
