User Registration

I have my board setup to require certain profile fields to be filled out before someone can register. I registered myself as a new user and the profile checks worked and would not allow me to continue. There are 5 required fields and they are all mandatory to register or modify your profile.

Yet earlier this morning a new user successfully registered and the only field he/she filled out was location which they specified as la la land. No other required fields were filled out.

How could this happen

It shouldn't happen with the original vB code.

To troubleshoot this, reupload all the original vB non-image files (except install.php). Make sure you upload these in ASCII format and overwrite the ones on the server. Also be sure to upload the admincp files to whichever directory you have set in your config.php file. Then run 'Suspect File Version' in Diagnostics to make sure you have all the original files for your version:

Admin CP -> Maintenance -> Diagnostics -> Suspect File Versions

Next, disable all third-party products and plugins:

Admin CP -> Products & Plugins

Then if you still have this problem, create a new style and choose no parent style. This will force it to use the default templates. Then make this the default style.

Admin Control Panel -> vBulletin Options -> Style & Language Settings -> Default Style

Finally empty your browser cache, close all browser windows then try again. Do you have the same problem?

I did as you said Steve. I reuploaded all the files. When I run the diagnostics >suspect files, I still get the following.

I did all that you said. But there is no way to verify things because it successfully keeps me from registering if I leave a required profile entry blank. I can not duplicate this one time event.

Is that activecell.htc thingy of any concern??? Anyway, I found it and deleted it.

If you cannot duplicate this problem then there isn't really anything more that can be done right now.

That file is not a problem.
