2 different domains Cookie Problem ( Stupid Mistake)

I have searched this forum for 3 hours, and I still don't understand what to do.

I have a forum on mysite.com ( I set it up as an add on), however before I set it up, I set up another like a subdomain, by mistake, long time ago, never accessed it, it was just sitting there. SO this is what I have now:

I just saw it yesterday, put in my browser, and now my major site is always showing that there is a new post. So, I think it's a cookie problem I just don't know how to solve it.
I went and wanted to delete the stupid subdomain mysite.myothersite.net, but it wouldn't let me since then I have to delete myothersite.net and it's a working site.

How do I set up the cookies correctly, my users don't know about the mysitemyothersite.net, it was only me accessing it once, what I think messed up the whole system. Maybe if they don't go there, then they will not have this cookie problem, just me?
    Please help.

To fix this, upload the tools.php script in the 'do_not_upload' folder of the vB zip file to your Admin CP directory and run it from your browser. Use this to reset the cookie domain and path back to the defaults. And then leave your cookie domain and path at the default settings. There is no reason to change these. If you need to specify a unique cookie, use the cookie prefix setting in config.php instead.
