I'm trying to move a vBulletin database from localhost to another server. Both of the MySQL servers are version 5.0. vBulletin is running on Windows 2000 Server. I migrated the datat to the new db server, but when I update the server address in the vBulletin config and try to run with the external server I get the error:
"Client does not support authentication protocol requested by server"
Any ideas why that is? I've searched a bit on the above error and it seems mostly to be an issue with connecting the MySQL when things aren't configured correctly. I haven't found any mention of a difference when running MySQL on the localhost vs. an external server.
