Email confirmation in Registration process

I would like to setup vBulletin where when users are going thru the registration process, they receive an email which contains a link that will confirm that they are indeed registered for our service.

I cannot find anywhere in the documentation or the admin control panel to activate this feature. I would imagine that this is available in this release.

That'd be Admin CP > vBulletin Options > User Registration Options > Verify Email address in Registration, set it to "Yes" and it will require the link clicking activation process.

I turned the email verification on in my board and the link doesn't work that is sent to the new users. How do you fix this?

What doesn't work exactly? This will work if you have the correct forum URL setting in the Admin CP and haven't made any modifications to break this.

it had a '/forum' after the main page URL in the URL path. I changed that. Hopefully that fixed the problem. I will find out next time someone new registers.

I have enabled the User Registration Options feature, and also we are using SMTP, so I enabled that as well. Is there some procedure that I am missing in regards to the actual email itself?

Sorry to bump an old thread, but had a similar question. The email verifications are taking between 15-20 minutes after a user signs up for them to get it in their inbox. Is this an issue with my webhosting provider or something with vbulletin?

This is a server or mailbox issue. vB sends those emails to the server immediately.

Should I try the -f option? I had a user not get an e-mail at all yesterday.

The -f option enters a name into the mail, nothing more, some servers is configured to require this to deliver the mail (at all), it does not make any difference in terms of mail delivery priority.

You should contact your hosting provider, or server admin, and see what's causing the mail to delay on the server. And correct it from there instead.

I've contacted my hosting provider, and this was their response.
