Change quick reply box width

Ive searched this, but it doesnt work. Im using a totally default vbulletin but ive changed my quick reply box setting to the one which has just the text box, no bottons. Now im trying to increase its width, but what ever i put in the Message Area Width field, 20, 1, 100, 2000, it doesnt change.

Can you tell me how i should be doing it please?

Now i can see its using a different stylevar, the form one. Trouble is if i change that it affects a lot of other things too, and i dont want that. So, now what i need to know is how to create a new stylevar in the admincp.
