"Most users ever online..." has shrunk, not grown

I am really beginning to hate using the search feature here. I even tried to learn better search techniques by looking in the FAQ, but even that seems to be broken - had stuff about Project Tools and a whole lot of words were in red that I never used in my search terms.

    Anyway...

I just noticed my statistics for "Most users ever online..." and it's not tracking properly. Last week, before I move servers, I had approximate 230 users reported online last January. The day after my server move, I mysteriously had 560 some odd users online earlier that day - brand new server, just opened back up for business.

What is being tracked right now is the current users online. When I refresh the window, it tells me Most users ever online is 29 at 4:13 am, which is what time it is right now. It changes when I refresh. What could be making it do that?

That seems as if you have an issue with your datastore. Are you using the database datastore or the file based one? This is set in your config.php file.

If you're using the file based datastore, check that the file is CHMODed to 777.

      Thanks for the reply, Colin,

I am using the file based datastore. The folder is CHMODed to 755 and the file, datastore_cache.php, is CHMODed to 644. I will change that to 777, but what about the folder? Does it have to be changed too?

PS: Is there a way to correct the "Most users ever online..." number/time?
