How do I remove the "Powered by vBulletin" from my page titles?

On my forum main page title, it has the title I entered, but whenever it shows up in Google searches, it always has "Powered by vBulletin" added next to the page title.

But.. if I load the page up and just go to File>Properties in IE, it doesn't have this added.

Does anyone know where this "Powered by vBulletin" is coming from when Google returns results?

If you've removed it from your forum then it's just old spidering. You'll just need to wait until Google reindexes your forum.

Strange - because I removed it from day 1 back in June and it's still showing up. Oh well, at least I know it's not an issue with vB now.

        It might be.

"Powered by vBulletin" auto-adds itself to the title of the page via a phrase hook. You need to use phrase manager, do a search for it, and add your own message to replace it.

The "Powered by vBulletin" phrase does not show up in viewing templates or anything like that.

Damn... I have no idea what phase hooks / phrase managers are or how to use them, so it looks like I'm stuck with it.

This is almost like vBulletin spamming it's own customers! Grrr. Their name is already at the bottom of every page, I wish they could leave my page titles alone.

It's not spamming at all - you just don't know how to remove it. It's quite easy.

How did you go about removing it?

If you changed the phrase directly, then its nothing to do with a hook.

Well, I have no idea what a "hook" is, but all I did was enter the page title in my configuration when I first set up vB, and vB seems to have appended an ad for itself onto my page title. I did not want this, nor ask for it. That's spam in my definition of it (unwanted unsolicited advertising).

Anyway, if anyone knows how I can have the actual page titles that I enter, without anything else attached to it, please let me know - THanks!

patience is a good thing your website is not the only one that is being indexed by google ...

Your opinion of what Spam is is wrong then. Sorry.

Anyway, go to your AdminCP >> Search in phrases

Then, search for the phrase you want to change, make your edits and click save.

Hehe, "spam" doesn't necessarily mean just email. Anyway, we're getting off topic.

Ok I searched all the templates for "Powered by vBulletin" as it is listed in my title pages, but nothing came up.

'Guess I'll just have to live with it. (It's got to be in a script file - I mean it's got to be SOMEWHERE - it didn't just place itself there by chance. But it doesn't look like there's a way to find it that I can think of). THanks for your help though.

I'm well aware SPAM isn't just email - but it isn't spam if it is easily removed.

Search in phrases, not templates, sorry.
