New Post & Reply Header

I have seen on other vbbs where at top header it shows you how many new post and replys with ability to click on them and it bring up new post for you. I'm sure there is a post here somewhere telling me how to do it but, I've searched and can not find it. I must not be putting in the right key words can some one help me please?
