What's the easiest/best/whatever way to backup your database, site, and so on?

Is there a way to do some of this automatically via a cron job or something?

The only consistently reliable method of backing up and restoring a database is with shell access via telnet or ssh. This is because backing up with a PHP script like that in the Admin CP or phpMyAdmin can result in PHP timeout errors and an incomplete backup file.

    Please see the instructions here:

    Backup:
    http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/m...nce_ssh_backup

    Restore:
    http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/m...ce_ssh_restore

If you don't have telnet or SSH access, some people have reported success with these scripts:

    MySQLDumper:
    http://www.mysqldumper.de/en/index.php

    MySQLHotxcopy:
    http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showt...t=mysqlhotcopy

    Bigdump (restore only):

    Cron Job(s) database backup(s)

I believe it is the last link in my post#2, unless you are seeing another page.

I did check that link, but I thought that was needed to do through cpanel, not shell.

I have tried this method, as I thought it would leave your file outside of protected area.

The second folder is do_not_upload - This folder contains tools to perform various tasks on your board

vb_backup.sh - This file will allow you to run a database backup via SSH/Telnet or a scheduled backup through cron.

I do not have a actual forum online like 99% of internet sites do. I use my computer and I use a community base internet and it has no ties to www.

What do I do with the code? I like this method as the daily backup optio is just what i am looking ofr but not sure what steps to take with the code.
