  • Moderation/Email Confirmation/Filtering - help

There are new users registering in my board and bypassing moderation. How is that happening? They are not in the list of moderation for new users but rather for users awaiting confirmation?

I am getting emails several emails of *.ru, *.info that are registering. Are these telemarketers using scripts?

Furthermore there are several users who have registered and have not confirmed via email. Does the registration panel provide a message saying "check your email" or anything similar if moderation is enabled? I have a list of 500 true users who have not confirmed via email

    1. They are not bypassing anything. They go into the Users Awaiting group until they activate their license. After that they go into the COPPA/Moderation group.

    2. Possibly. Please see this:

    3. Sorry, I don't understand the question. When they register they are sent an email. They have to click on the link in that email to activate their account.

      Similar problem

I moderate three boards. One for an organization that I belong to and two that I own on two different sites. I have upgraded to at least 3.6.6 or 3.6.7 with plug ins and have the email confirmation problem. I check all IP addresses before approving even if they some how get around the email confirmation, but recently in the past few days people that I email with have not received their confirmation letters so I have had to manually enroll them from the admin side... they have actively watched their respective junk, bulk or spam boxes to see if the emails arrived there. I was wondering if anyone else has had that problem. I am going to start entering in 'banned IP' addresses from now on... it will take care of most of the problems for a majority of the bots.

      any comments would be appreciated.

      the sites are:

and one that I assist in moderating

thanks in advance for any and all assistance
