  • Get rid of dates?

    Is there anyway that I can get rid of dates to show when people have posted?

  • #2
    Yes, you can go into the postbit template you're using, and remove the code that displays the date.

      Sorry I couldn't see my earlier post and posted a new one!

      Thanks for the reply. How exactly do I do that?

        Edit the postbit template, and replace this code:

        Code:
        <if condition="!$show['announcement']">
                        $post[postdate]<if condition="!$show['detailedtime']">, $post[posttime]</if>
                    <else />
                        <phrase 1="$post[startdate]" 2="$post[enddate]">$vbphrase[x_until_y]</phrase>
                    </if>

        with this code :

        Code:
        <if condition="$show['announcement']">
                        <phrase 1="$post[startdate]" 2="$post[enddate]">$vbphrase[x_until_y]</phrase>
                    </if>

          I have done that and saved it but all posts are still displaying the times and dates of when they were posted. Is there anyway of getting rid of these?

            About which page are we talking?

            In the actual post?
            In the thread you're viewing?
            On the forum display list?
            On the forum home last post column?

            A bit more specific might help.

              Sorry

              Basically I want to remove any date viewed in the areas you suggested. Basically so that all post dates in the entire form are removed.

              Sorry to be vague

                This requires me to spend too much time on a specific customization for each forum page where this occurs, that falls outside of the default vBulletin support.

                Based on my example you can see how dates are displayed in templates, you could browse the pages, and try to find back in those templates (just like how I would have to do that) and remove that date/time code.

                    replace the whole content of the template forumhome_lastpostby with this code:

                    Code:
                    <if condition="$show['lastpostinfo']">
                    <div class="smallfont" align="$stylevar[left]">
                        <div style="clear:both">
                            <if condition="$show['icon']"><img class="inlineimg" src="$icon[iconpath]" alt="$icon[title]" border="0" /></if>
                            <a href="showthread.php?$session[sessionurl]goto=newpost&amp;t=$lastpostinfo[lastthreadid]" title="<phrase 1="$lastpostinfo[lastthread]">$vbphrase[go_first_unread_in_thread_x]</phrase>"><strong>$lastpostinfo[trimthread]</strong></a>
                        </div>
                        <div<if condition="is_browser('ie', 6)"> style="float:$stylevar[left]"</if>>
                            <phrase 1="member.php?$session[sessionurl]find=lastposter&amp;f=$lastpostinfo[forumid]" 2="$lastpostinfo[lastposter]">$vbphrase[by_x]</phrase>
                        </div>
                        <div align="$stylevar[right]">
                            <a href="showthread.php?$session[sessionurl]p=$lastpostinfo[lastpostid]#post$lastpostinfo[lastpostid]"><img class="inlineimg" src="$stylevar[imgdir_button]/lastpost.gif" alt="$vbphrase[go_to_last_post]" border="0" /></a>
                        </div>
                    </div>
                    <else />
                    <div class="smallfont" align="$stylevar[right]">
                        <a href="showthread.php?$session[sessionurl]p=$lastpostinfo[lastpostid]"><img class="inlineimg" src="$stylevar[imgdir_button]/lastpost.gif" alt="$vbphrase[go_to_last_post]" border="0" /></a>
                    </div>
                    </if>
                    It's the content of the column 'last post by x' on index.php , without the date/time in it.

                      That's great and now working thanks very much. Would I do a similar thing inside each thread to stop the date and time appearing?
