How do I make a whole forum private?

I once saw a forum where a whole forum was marked to private. It had a message box that said something like "This forum is private. To view discussions please register here" and the "here" link led to the registration page.

Is there anyway I can do this???

It depends on what you wish to do exactly.

Allow it to be visible to staff and members, but not guests?
If so, go to the admin control panel > usergroups > usergroup manager > modify the usergroup : unregistered > and set "can view forum: NO"
