  • Admin has lost abilities in Thread Tools

    This morning I discovered that I could no longer sticky or un-sticky topics using the Thread Tools drop down.

    My 4 choices are now:
    Show printable version
    Email this page
    Subscribe to the thread
    Add a poll to this thread

    At first I thought this was affecting me and all of my moderators. So I had my moderators check and for forums in which they are moderators they have the full suite of Thread Tools in their drop down.

    Now here's the odd thing, for forums where my account is specifically listed as a moderator I still have full Thread Tools capability. For the rest of my forums I do not. In the past as an administrator I had full capability in every forum regardless of whether I was listed as a moderator for that forum specifically or not.

    This happened after I upgraded from 3.6.5 to 3.6.7 PL1.

    I've looked at my admin account and I cannot find anywhere that my permissions are being "limited", not in the account, not under forum permissions and I don't have access masks enabled. I'm sure it must be some setting that VB changed somewhere during the upgrade but I am clueless as to where.

    Can anyone help me out?

    Thanks in advance!

    To troubleshoot this, first reupload all the original vB non-image files (except install.php). Make sure you upload these in ASCII format and overwrite the ones on the server. Also be sure to upload the admincp files to whichever directory you have set in your config.php file. Then run 'Suspect File Versions' in Diagnostics to make sure you have all the original files for your version:

    Admin CP -> Maintenance -> Diagnostics -> Suspect File Versions

    [Note: In some cases you may also need to remove any of the listed .xml files in the includes/xml directory.]

    Next, disable all plugins.

    Note: To temporarily disable the plugin system, edit config.php and add this line right under <?php

    define('DISABLE_HOOKS', true);

    Then if you still have this problem, create a new style and choose no parent style. This will force it to use the default templates. Finally empty your browser cache, close all browser windows then try again. Make sure you change to the new style and view your forums with it. Do you have the same problem?
