    The most likely cause of this error is that the info in your config.php file is wrong or your database user does not have full permissions to this database. Please read this for all the known causes of this error:

      Here is what I just changed tho
      $config['Database']['dbname']
      $config['Database']['technicalemail']
      $config['MasterServer']['username']
      $config['MasterServer']['password']
      I remember last time I didn't change the localhost.

      But I still get the db error

        Also I did backup. But, how do I do that with vBulletin not working?

          what control panel do you use to control your website? I don't mean the vbulletin control panel I mean the web host control panel.

            Contacted my server on this, and they sent me the following:

            Jeremy,

            This is no reason your vBulletin update should be trying to access mysql as root. You are probably missing the mysql login information, or the update script is somehow not reading it correctly.

                  In cpanel when you created your mysql database, did you create a username as well and did you add that username to the database?

                    I just checked mySQL Database for users, and bleepd_bleepd is the only user.
                    Where do I input that? I thought I had my dbname set to just bleepd...

                        This is all that I changed in the config.php

                        $config['Database']['dbname'] = 'bleepd';
                        $config['Database']['technicalemail'] = '[email protected]';
                        $config['MasterServer']['username'] = 'xxxx';
                        $config['MasterServer']['password'] = 'xxxx';

                        If I need to update something else, I did not know to do so, or where to do so

                          Have a look at this site for creating mysql databases in cpanel:

                          http://www.cpanel.net/docs/cpanel/

                          Look for the section on Mysql Databases.

                            I already have bleepd as a database in MySQL

                              Okay have you added the user to the database? As detailed in the cpanel manual?
