  • phpmyadmin instead of ssh

instead of backing up then restoring using the ssh,i used phpmyadmin to copy my 3.5GB database then did the upgrade from 3.6.4 to 3.6.6 and seems every thing is ok

my question is using phpmyadmin to copy new database in one step instead of using the ssh backup then restore saved almost 50% of the whole upgrade proccess time ...... but will this effect my forum function in any way? if not, then why we were advised to use ssh to backup then restore and waste lot of time especially for large fourms ?

3.5gb .sql dump is way too big for browse backup/restore.
The risk of having an incomplete version is very high.

I strongly recommend using the shell backup procedure. Backing up over shell is MUCH faster too.
