    MySQL = 5.0.27-standard
    PHP = 5.2.0
    Apache = 1.3.37

    What could the problem be? At first look (and my limited MySQL experience compared with other here) i would think the query that caused the error doesn't take to much time to execute.
    But i saw that the MySQL wait_timeout setting is 30. Isn't that too low?

    Any other thoughts, things i can do?

    30 seconds is a little low. If you have decent traffic on the database, then it may cause the connections to be closed before any delayed queries in the queue are run.

    I believe the default for MySQL is 8 hours. You don't need it to be that long but if you can you might try increasing it.

      Thanks Wayne, i'll keep an eye out and if similar DB errors occur and ask the host to set the value higher.

      How can i check the traffic on the database as you describe it?
