  • Upload language

    Hi!

I'm trying to add a new language to my forum, because I want to customize it. So what I did is downloading vBulletin from the MA, and then take the language file out of it. I changed the name (both the filename as the internal name) and I tried to upload it to my forums. I select the option to create a new language and I provide it with a unique name. Then the forum says it has been done and it's going to rebuild the styles. But: only MASTER (english) and Dutch are being rebuild. The new uploaded file is nowhere, and I can't find it anywhere on the system.

So then I tried to upload the same file using an FTP-manager but the same problem occured.

I just can't get it working on two different forums... Can somebody provide some help with this issue?

The XML distributed with vBulletin is marked as a Master Language. When you import it, it will always overwrite the master.

To add a new language go into the Language Manager and click on "Add Language" or import an appropriately translated file that is not marked as a Master.

How can I unmark it then?
What I want to do is upload the original vB, and then customize it.

So it did overwrite my English file, even when I set it to "make new language"??

Just make a new language. Call it "English (Custom)" or something and make your edits in that language. The new language will automatically inherit all the phrases from the Master just like a new style with no parent does. Do not edit XML files directly.
