  • Help needed badly

    Hi,

    I am bussy setting up my site and I really need some help for a template issue that I am not able to solve myself.

    In order to see what I mean you will have to take a look at my website
    and go to the forum area..

    What do I want?

    I want to have the forum the same look as the rest of the website that I run... Problem is that in the website a code is used that I cannot use in the forum apparently.

    What do I have to do to get the same effect in the forum.

    It's about the left and right side of the screen (the green with white stripes)

    Click here to go to the webiste
    Click here to go to the forum (not ready yet)

    Please can anyone help me with this??????

    A piece of code that is used on the pages looks like this:

    <!-- left collumn -->
    <table width="100%" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" bgcolor="#C3CC96" valign="top">
    <tr bgcolor="#C3CC96" valign="top">
    <td width="30" bgcolor="#C3CC96"><img src="../images/spacer.gif" width="30"></td>
    <td background="<?echo(CONST_STR_IMGFLD);?>divider-grey.gif" width="5"><img src="<?echo(CONST_STR_IMGFLD);?>divider-grey.gif" width="5" height="1"></td>
    <td background="<?echo(CONST_STR_IMGFLD);?>pixel-dot.gif" width="5"><img src="<?echo(CONST_STR_IMGFLD);?>pixel-dot.gif" width="5" height="1"></td>
    <td background="<?echo(CONST_STR_IMGFLD);?>divider-black.gif" width="2"><img src="<?echo(CONST_STR_IMGFLD);?>divider-black.gif" width="1" height="1"></td>
    <td width="900" bgcolor="FFFFFF">
    <!-- /left collumn ends here -->

    You need to start your column right at the very top of your header template, and have the closing code right at the very end of your footer template. For more details on how to do this, see this thread:

      Tried it but...

      Hi Kerry-Anne,

      Tried it but doesn't seem to work

      The problem is that I use the following code for all the website:

      Left Side:
      <!-- left collumn -->
      <table width="100%" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" bgcolor="#CBE6FF" valign="top">
      <tr bgcolor="#CBE6FF" valign="top">

      <td width="30" bgcolor="#CBE6FF"><img src="../images/spacer.gif" width="30"></td>
      <td background="<?echo(CONST_STR_IMGFLD);?>divider-grey.gif" width="5"><img src="<?echo(CONST_STR_IMGFLD);?>divider-grey.gif" width="5" height="1"></td>
      <td background="<?echo(CONST_STR_IMGFLD);?>pixel-dot.gif" width="5"><img src="<?echo(CONST_STR_IMGFLD);?>pixel-dot.gif" width="5" height="1"></td>
      <td background="<?echo(CONST_STR_IMGFLD);?>divider-black.gif" width="2"><img src="<?echo(CONST_STR_IMGFLD);?>divider-black.gif" width="1" height="1"></td>
      <td width="900" bgcolor="FFFFFF">

      <!-- /left collumn ends here -->

      Right Side:
      <!-- right collumn -->

      <td background="<?echo(CONST_STR_IMGFLD);?>divider-black.gif" width="2"><img src="<?echo(CONST_STR_IMGFLD);?>divider-black.gif" width="1" height="1"></td>
      <td background="<?echo(CONST_STR_IMGFLD);?>pixel-dot.gif" width="5"><img src="<?echo(CONST_STR_IMGFLD);?>pixel-dot.gif" width="5" height="1"></td>
      <td background="<?echo(CONST_STR_IMGFLD);?>divider-grey.gif" width="5"><img src="<?echo(CONST_STR_IMGFLD);?>divider-grey.gif" width="5" height="1"></td>
      <td width="95%" bgcolor="#CBE6FF" valign="top"> <? include($php_str_rootPath."language/lang_".$_SESSION['ses_str_lng']."/CB-01");?>
      </td>
      </tr>
      </table>
      <table width="100%" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" bgcolor="#CBE6FF" height="100%">
      <tr bgcolor="#CBE6FF">
      <td width="30" bgcolor="#CBE6FF"><img src="../images/spacer.gif" width="30"></td>
      <td background="<?echo(CONST_STR_IMGFLD);?>divider-grey.gif" width="5"><img src="<?echo(CONST_STR_IMGFLD);?>divider-grey.gif" width="5" height="1"></td>
      <td background="<?echo(CONST_STR_IMGFLD);?>pixel-dot.gif" width="5"><img src="<?echo(CONST_STR_IMGFLD);?>pixel-dot.gif" width="5" height="1"></td>
      <td background="<?echo(CONST_STR_IMGFLD);?>divider-black.gif" width="2"><img src="<?echo(CONST_STR_IMGFLD);?>divider-black.gif" width="1" height="1"></td>
      <td width="900" bgcolor="#CBE6FF"><img src="../images/spacer.gif" height="1" width="830" border="0"></td>

      <td background="<?echo(CONST_STR_IMGFLD);?>divider-black.gif" width="2"><img src="<?echo(CONST_STR_IMGFLD);?>divider-black.gif" width="1" height="1"></td>
      <td background="<?echo(CONST_STR_IMGFLD);?>pixel-dot.gif" width="5"><img src="<?echo(CONST_STR_IMGFLD);?>pixel-dot.gif" width="5" height="1"></td>
      <td background="<?echo(CONST_STR_IMGFLD);?>divider-grey.gif" width="5"><img src="<?echo(CONST_STR_IMGFLD);?>divider-grey.gif" width="5" height="1"></td>
      <td width="95%" bgcolor="#CBE6FF"><img src="../images/spacer.gif" width="120" height="8"></td>
      </tr>
      </table>

      <!-- /right collumn ends here -->

      If I add it like the description then I miss the part in the middle..

      Second problem is that src="<?echo(CONST_STR_IMGFLD);?>divider-grey.gif" seems to automatically get streched when the pages get longer but I guess that vbulletin do not recognize this <?echo(CONST_STR_IMGFLD);?>

      I do not want to give the images a fixed size. I needs to strech all the way to the end of the screen automatically..

      I really don't have a clue how to do this..????

      Marc

        You cannot add PHP code to the templates. You will need to use a plugin in the global_start hook location to parse the PHP and pass it to variables which you can then use in your templates.

        Giving your code a really quick look over, you need an </td> at the start of your right column code.

        If you require any assistance creating the plugin that you require, or more detailed assistance in getting this working, you will need to seek support at vBulletin.org. We do not provide support for modifications or custom coding here at vBulletin.com.

          All of these are PHP code:
          <?echo(CONST_STR_IMGFLD);?>

          You'll need to just remove all of those and replace it with the actual path to the image.

            I tried that but I still miss the middle area of the page, most probably because the images are not automatically streched to the full height of the page....

            then I am forced to make a fixed size for the images, but that's difficult as all pages differ in height...

            That's the main problem...
