  • A couple of Questions/Issues

    1. Is it possible to allow users a choice of look for the forums? (different styles).

    2. I am getting told by loads of users that their read posts are not getting updated. Any ideas?

    3. One of my forums only shows 2 pages worth of posts and there are loads more, any ideas?

    4. The area at the top that shows you which forum your viewing and your login name etc, is it possible to repeat that at the bottom (so you don't have to scroll all the way up in long threads).

    Admin CP / vBulletin Options / Style & Language Settings / Allow Users To Change Styles

    Make sure that option is set to 'Yes'. Then whatever styles you have installed, users can choose from them from their user control panel or from the select box in the footer.

    Admin CP / vBulletin Options / General Settings / Thread/Forum Read Marking Type

    Try changing this option to the last option (Database with auto saving). If the first is selected (Inactivity / Cookie based), then users might not have posts marked as read until they return after their session times out or have clicked the 'mark as read' link.

    3. One of my forums only shows 2 pages worth of posts and there are loads more, any ideas?
    At the bottom of the forum are Display Options. It sounds like the "From the" field is not set to "Beginning", but something like "The last 30 days".

    This is a per-forum option. Edit a forum and under Default View Age, choose Show All Threads.

    Yes, the breadcrumbs can easily be added to the bottom. You can look in the navbar template and copy the code for the breadcrumbs so it appears in the footer template, or just to the bottom of the SHOWTHREAD template if you want it to show up in threads only.

    For example, put this somewhere at the bottom of SHOWTHREAD:
    Code:
    <div class="tborder alt1"><if condition="is_array($navbits)">
                <table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" border="0">
                <tr valign="bottom">
                    <td><a href="#" onclick="history.back(1); return false;"><img src="$stylevar[imgdir_misc]/navbits_start.gif" alt="$vbphrase[go_back]" border="0" /></a></td>
                    <td>&nbsp;</td>
                    <td width="100%"><span class="navbar"><a href="$vboptions[forumhome].php$session[sessionurl_q]" accesskey="1">$vboptions[bbtitle]</a></span> $navbits[breadcrumb]</td>
                </tr>
                <tr>
                    <td class="navbar" style="font-size:10pt; padding-top:1px" colspan="3"><if condition="$_SERVER['REQUEST_METHOD'] == 'POST'"><img class="inlineimg" src="$stylevar[imgdir_misc]/navbits_finallink.gif" alt="" border="0" /><else /><a href="$scriptpath"><img class="inlineimg" src="$stylevar[imgdir_misc]/navbits_finallink.gif" alt="$vbphrase[reload_this_page]" border="0" /></a></if> <strong>$navbits[lastelement]</strong></td>
                </tr>
                </table>
            <else />
                <div class="navbar" style="font-size:10pt"><a href="$vboptions[forumhome].php$session[sessionurl_q]" accesskey="1"><img class="inlineimg" src="$stylevar[imgdir_misc]/navbits_start.gif" alt="" border="0" /></a> <strong>$vboptions[bbtitle]</strong></div>
            </if></div>
