trouble logging out

When my users click the log out button it does not log them out. I found someone who had the same problem here:

but they had something else wrong, and were able to fix it a different way. Any ideas for me? Thanks in advance!

Did you modify any templates or install and add-ons? If not, then this is a cookie corruption issue on the user's end.
