Problems upgrading

Hi guys

I decided tonight to give it a shot and do the upgrade to 3.6.4 from 3.5.4. I have to do everything by FTP because my website and forums are hosted by HOSTGATOR and I cannot get a hold of the person that helped set all this up(he is just busy)

So, I followed the directions, and even did a support ticket and was told that I had to upload it overwriting everything. So, I removed what I did and then too the upload file(after changing the config.php file) and uploaded directly to the "forum1". After waiting for that to get done, it never asked me if I wanted to overwrite any files, I then went to http://www.michigantrunktracking.com...ll/upgrade.php

The whole time it says version 3.5.4 and goes through all five steps with no problems and no errors. When I log into the Admin and it redirects me to the forum, the forums are not upgraded to 3.6.4. I am assuming that I am not doing something write, and any help that anyone can give a somewhat newbie at doing my own uploads and such would be greatly appreciated.

This means you did not upload all the 3.6.4 files, in particular the 'install/*.xml' files. Reupload all the original vB non-image files (except install.php). Make sure you upload these in ASCII format and overwrite the ones on the server. Also be sure to upload the admincp files to whichever directory you have set in your config.php file. Then run upgrade.php again.

P.S. Make sure that the XML file versions in the upper right hand corner of the page show 3.6.4.

ok, let me explain what I did, and then maybe you can explan the ASCII part....

I renamed the Config.php.new to config.php. I then took the UPLOAD folder and dragged it over to the FORUM1 part of my FTP on the right hand side(I use FILEZILLA)

That takes about 3-5 minutes to upload.

In the inclues or install I dont remember now, but I deleted the one that it said not to install. Then I went to the http://www.michigantrunktracking.com...ll/upgrade.php and everything said 3.5.4 on the right side, not 3..4.

My FTP says that I am in ASCII mode, so I am not sure what else I really need to do. I followed the instructions and it should have worked, and I am not sure why it did not.
