  • Problems with some forums locking up user's PC?

    One of my members complained about this and at first I ignored it thinking it was just his PC having issues:

    I am having problems with some rooms, they open then I cant move to threads or posts. Ive deleted temp internet files.& cookies, but the problem is still there, Im on a number of forums & everthing is fine ,It is only going on with this site. I tryed getting into the performance site & it just locks up I have to restart to unlock & move on????
    But then I had a whole lot of other members complaining about it also:

    Yes have this problem to. But for me it seems to be only the V8 supercar/ car racing room. I cant work out why either
    Yeah it loads the page but then locks. You are stuck & have to reboot to get out..
    I get it in this room also. Pressing Cntrl-Alt-Del seems to unlock it.
    Running IE6
    The problem is persisting, just tryed to get into a thread in the V8sc room, lock up ctrl/alt/del to get out
    Not having trouble of any kind anywere else
    These complaints have only started to come through since I upgraded to 3.6.4. Whether that's just a coincedence or not, I don't know.

    Any ideas?

    Also happens with IE7. Not sure if it happens with Firefox.

      First, reupload all the original vB non-image files (except install.php). Make sure you upload these in ASCII format and overwrite the ones on the server. Also be sure to upload the admincp files to whichever directory you have set in your config.php file. Then run 'Suspect File Version' in Diagnostics to make sure you have all the original files for your version:

      Admin CP -> Maintenance -> Diagnostics -> Suspect File Versions

      Next, disable all plugins.

      Note: To temporarily disable the plugin system, edit config.php and add this line right under <?php

      define('DISABLE_HOOKS', true);

      Then if you still have this problem, create a new style and choose no parent style. This will force it to use the default templates. Finally empty your browser cache, close all browser windows then try again. Make sure you change to the new style and view your forums with it. Do you (or they) have the same problem?

      Change CKEditor Colors to Match Style (for 4.1.4 and above)
