  • strange characters in RSS feeds

I've noticed from time to time I am getting strange characters displaying in the RSS feeds.

For example, title and content of RSS feed:

“New MacBook is the same — only better”

Gary Krakow writes for MSNBC, “Overall, I found that the new MacBook is just like the old MacBook — only better.Â*It seems faster and has some new bells and whistles — all for the same price.”

How do I prevent these strange characters from appearing? I believe these are related to the quotes and dashes used in the RSS format.

This is most likely a problem with that feed. Are you running 3.6.4?

Yes. I'm not sure what other info you need. Here's the feed:

I get the same thing with that feed which means that it's most likely the feed itself. Nonetheless report this in the 3.6 Bug Tracker here so a Dev can take a look:

Feeds like this one: http://www3.tuoitre.com.vn/thethao/R...?ChannelID=252 does contain special chars, but I really expect the parser of vB rssfeed to convert those to "readable" chars. right now it can't

I had to install iconv to convert these characters in the RSS feeds. vB does not have the ability built-in.
