  • Disabling an individual's PM's

Is there a way? Say a member has been using the PM system in a way that is unwelcomed. But you don't quite want to ban them over this offense.
Is there a way to make this happen?
the only way I see how is through creating a new usergroup???

You are correct. That is a group permission so they would need their own primary usergroup.

Another "almost" option is to use an infraction. Infraction groups are added as secondary groups and take away permissions. But infractions are given out through the process of infracting user posts, not PMs, so that doesn't quite work.

But you could give that as an arbitrary infraction point through the user's profile, right? Sorry I'm also trying to get my head wrapped around the infraction system.

Yes, you can do arbitrary infractions. I didn't know about those when I made this post.
