  • Increase the number of characters for usergroup HTML markup?

    how do I increase the number of characters for usergroup HTML markup?
    Is it possible?

  • #2
    Not test, but you could try the following queries:

    Code:
    ALTER TABLE usergroup ALTER COLUMN `opentag` `opentag` varchar(250) NOT NULL default '';
    ALTER TABLE usergroup ALTER COLUMN `closetag` `closetag` varchar(250) NOT NULL default '';
    Please backup your database before making manual changes to your database.

      250 is the amount of characters I'm going to change here?
      I'm not familiar with MySQL so where would I use this code?

            You can run queries either from your AdminCP (only 1 line at a time, AdminCP -> Maintenance -> Execute SQL Query) or from a tool like phpMyAdmin.

              this is the error i get when running the first query
              Code:
              An error occurred while attempting to execute your query. The following information was returned.
              error number: 1064
              error desc: You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'opentag` varchar(750) NOT NULL default ''' at line 1

                I believe the maximum size of a varchar is 255. If you need more, try a mediumtext.

                  yea i noticed that, i changed mine to 1000 per box (way more than enough) and yea it changed to text instead of varchar. is that ok, or will that cause a security flaw, or any other issues that you know of?

                    It should not cause any problems as a text field over a varchar.
